In the push for sustainable design, energy efficiency, and enhanced spatial quality, more and more commercial buildings are turning to ETFE tensile membrane structures.
These systems are transforming retail centers, exhibition halls, and mixed-use developments with their lightness, transparency, and durability.
A recent project by Skytensile showcases this trend — a rooftop membrane system for China’s largest home furnishing wholesale center.
The entire building was constructed using green building materials, earning official National Green Building Certification.
We designed and installed the ETFE membrane roofing system at the top of the tower — covering 300 sqm, using high-performance German-imported NOWOFOL ETFE film.
With a lightweight structure, fast installation, and excellent environmental performance, this project reflects the full potential of fabric membrane architecture in commercial settings.
✅ Key Advantages of ETFE Membrane Roofing:
- ☀️ High Light Transmittance (up to 95%) — Reduces energy consumption by maximizing natural light
- 🏗️ Ultra-Lightweight Tensile Structure — Ideal for large-span applications with minimal structural load
- 🌧️ Self-Cleaning Surface — Maintains a clean, transparent appearance with low maintenance
- ♻️ Sustainable & Recyclable — Supports LEED and other green building certifications
- ⚡ Fast Installation — Modular construction and site welding ensure shorter project timelines
- 🎯 Design Flexibility — Supports curved forms, skylights, atriums, and open-air public zones
