Guangzhou South Station is a large modern railway passenger station, with a plaza design featuring banana leaf elements typical of Lingnan. The varied lengths and diagonal veins of the leaves convey dynamism and vitality.
The total building area is 56×104 meters, with an ETFE membrane roof covering 24,500 square meters across 1,187 units, making it the largest train station in Asia.
The central lighting area uses double-layer ETFE cushions, spanning 16,000 square meters with 1,182 diamond-shaped cushions. The upper layer is 250μm transparent dotted ETFE, while the lower layer is 250μm blue ETFE.
The interior design is modern and simple, reflecting the station’s architectural features. It emphasizes eco-friendliness by using green ETFE membranes and recyclable materials, along with natural ventilation and lighting.
